What are the Meadows's times?

Breakfast time session between 8.00 and 8.30 am.
Early morning session between 8.30 and 9.00 am.
Morning session from 9.00 to 11.30 am.
Lunchtime session from 11.30 to 12.30 pm.
Afternoon session from 12.30 to 3.00 pm.
Late afternoon session between 3.00 and 3.30 pm.
Later afternoon session between 3.30 and 4.00 pm.
Teatime session between 4.00 and 6.00 pm.

To ensure correct ratios are in place please do NOT arrive outside your allocated sessions. Children MUST be collected on time. It can be very distressing for a child to be left at the centre for even a few minutes after the others have left. We adhere strictly to adult:child ratio rules and staff working hours limits. There may be children still onsite and staff around, but if you are not booked in for a session, we are not able to be responsible for them. The nursery closes at 6.00 pm. We choose not to take the option of charging by the minute for excess time, as many settings do. We hope that you will respect our rules as fair and reasonable. We also know that on occasions, emergencies do arise and we will understand.

Who can bring and/or collect my child?

In the interest of child safety, the Centre needs to know if someone other than yourself will be collecting your child. Staff will not release your child into the care of someone who is not named on your admission sheet without your prior consent.

Person collecting Arrangement
(must be at least 14 years old)
Person(s) other than main carer who regularly collect your child. Name(s) entered on Admission form. Please ensure this is always accurate. Access card may be requested for a person who regularly picks up your child.
Person(s) not on the admission form. Please write details of who will collect and when on the collection sheet available when you drop your child off. Please arrange to give the person the door access card and explain how to use it. If this is not possible, explain that they MUST speak to our receptionist to gain entry. Please ensure you record your chosen password on the application form and return it to a member of the admin team. Tell the person due to collect your child the password.
Emergency collection by person not already notified to Keyworker. Telephone admin to give details of who will be collecting and when. Tell them they must call at reception where they will be asked for identifying details, (full name of child, date of birth and name of Keyworker) and the password.

REGISTERS

If you arrive during the 8.00 to 8.30 am, 8.30 to 9.00 am sessions and/or leave during the 3.00 to 3.30 pm, 3.30 to 4.00 pm or 4.00 to 6.00 pm sessions, we rely on you marking your child in or out on the register. A member of staff will help you initially. Please ensure this is done ACCURATELY.
  • Always let a member of staff know that your child has arrived or is leaving.
  • When arriving at 9.00 am or 12.30 pm, ensure that your child hangs up their name card.
  • When leaving at 11.30 am or 3.00 pm please make sure your child takes down their name card.

What is the best way of ensuring my child settles?

Accept a home visit. This gives an opportunity for members of the staff team to begin their relationship with you and answer questions that you may have.

A meeting for new parents is held before your child starts at Meadows. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. You will hear how we work in the Meadows and have your questions answered.

Visit in the weeks before taking up your place. You will be given the times and dates along with your introductory letter. When you come:
  1. Sign in each time you visit.
  2. Make yourself at home.
  3. Explore the environment with your child, helping her/him to use the resources.
  4. Visit the snack and toilet areas and help your child to use them.
  5. Find your keyworker (you will have her name in your introductory letter and photos are in the corridor and on the nursery doors). Say hello to her, but please remember she has her present group of children to work with, so will not be able to spend a lot of time with you.
  6. As your child becomes confident stand back a little and let her/him join in. However, do remember that you are responsible for your child throughout the visit.
  7. Take time to read notices and information that is available.
  8. Talk about the things you discover with your child at home and with other family members, mentioning staff by name.
  9. Talk about the Meadows, referring to staff by name. We are happy to be known by our first names or full name. Find out about the Meadows and speak confidently about things that will happen. You should explain to your child that you will be back to collect them. Please ensure that you do arrive promptly at the end of the session. You are welcome to stay if you wish. Always tell your keyworker that you are leaving; she will assist you with your parting from your child if you need it.
