Can I visit or stay to help? We encourage you to spend a session at the Centre with us on a regular basis or just for an occasional visit. You would find out a lot about how we work. Children would benefit from having another interested adult available to chat with and share their learning. Your own child would probably love you being there, although don't expect her/him to behave in their usual way on that day. You are welcome to join in with the play. If you are happy to do some simple cooking with children, they would love it; come with another parent if it is easier. These are just suggestions, you may have other ideas. If you have a job or hobby that you could share with the children we would love to hear from you, first-hand experience is the best way for children to learn anything.
A few tips:
- Don't worry! Be yourself; everyone is very friendly and the children will love to tell you where to go, where to find things etc.
- Do check with staff that you both agree that your child is confidently settled in the Meadows and happy for you to come in as a visitor.
- Chat with children about their activities and help them to think and do things for themselves.
- Please do not use this occasion to chat to staff about your child, they are busy doing their jobs.
- Refer any behaviour management issues to a member of staff.
- Please discuss anything that you see or hear that you do not understand or that bothers you in any way with a staff member.
- Please do not discuss anything about children other than your own with anyone other than staff
- Do enjoy yourself and hopefully come back again soon.
- If you have younger siblings, why not arrange with another parent to share care for them in our Family Room?
