Story Sacks Library

STORY SACKS LIBRARY

Story sacks are an exciting extension to any story book. They consist of:
  • a story book
  • characters from the book in soft toy or hard plastic form
  • a game linked to the story
  • a non-fiction book linked to the story
  • the story on tape
Each sack comes with helpful tips on its use.

How the library works:
  • Once every three weeks, your child will be able to choose a story sack during their session. They will put their chosen sack on their coat peg for collection at the end of the session. A parent volunteer helps children to choose the story and keeps a record of the sack taken.
  • Please use it, enjoy it, have fun with it for a week and then return it to the box in the corridor marked ‘Story Sack Return Area’.
  • Please take great care of the contents of the sack as each one costs between £30 and £40. However, DO NOT PANIC if something gets damaged or lost – just pop a note in the sack or let the co-ordinator know. If you would like to make a small donation towards the replacement of items, please do so at the reception BUT do not feel that you must. Our main concern is that the story sacks are well used and enjoyed.
We need parent volunteers to help maintain and increase our story sack supply and to help children choose the story sack. Please consider helping out – even if you can only manage it occasionally.

Please sign the Story sack request form and hand in to staff if you wish your child to borrow story sacks.
