How secure is the building?
A door entry system is installed which is to protect all Ambleside Centre users, especially children. You will be issued with a programmed card which will give you entry through the glass doors at main reception and the main doors into your child's nursery area at your normal drop off/pick up times. It will not work at other times or on any other doors. The main entrance doors in and out of the building open automatically when the large button on the nearby post is pressed. If you do not have your card or someone other than yourself is picking up you child and they also do not have your card, then access is made by using the visitor's entry system in the entrance lobby and a temporary card will be issued (see rules below).
We ask that if anyone other than yourself is to collect your child, your child's Keyworker is informed. Staff will not release your child into the care of someone who is not named on your contact sheet without your prior consent.
RULES FOR DOOR CARD ENTRY SYSTEM
The safety of all Ambleside Centre users, especially children depends on your careful use of your access card. The following rules apply:
- DO NOT: Let other people through Meadows/Pastures door with you, unless you are CERTAIN that they should have access. Please do not be offended when the person in front of you closes the door behind them.
- DO NOT: Ever ask another cardholder to let you through Meadows/Pastures security doors or attempt to walk in without using your card.
- DO NOT: Let any child other than your own through the door when you are leaving the building.
- DO NOT: Let your child keep continually pressing the door button, or stand in the doorway, to keep the front doors open.
- DO NOT: Ever let your child have your card and NEVER let them use it.
- DO NOT: Ever let your child run ahead. They may get into the Reception area which is a public space or they may run out into the car park.
Please Do
Always remember your card. You MUST use it to get into Meadows/Pastures. You wouldn't leave home without your house key, so please don't leave without your access card.
Teach your child that the doors are locked to keep children safe and must only be opened by an adult.
Return the card when your child leaves the Centre.
If you Forget Your Card
You MUST go to Reception. You will then be asked to sign in to record that you have forgotten your card. You may then use the temporary card for access, but this must then be returned to Reception before you leave the premises.
If you Lose Your Card
Please let a member of the Admin staff know immediately. They will deactivate it and you can purchase a replacement for £3.50. If you do then find your card, please hand it back in and your money will be refunded.
Please remember
Your card will not work outside of your normal dropping off/pick up time.
We have installed this system for YOUR safety. We depend on your safe use of it for it to work.
What do I do with my buggy? It is necessary that exits and corridors are accessible at all times, therefore, no buggies may be brought into the Centre. A buggy store is located at the front of the building, to the right of the front door, please leave your buggy here to ensure clear exits in an emergency.
