Temperature Control Medication Policy Currently the nursery policy states that any child who has a temperature must be collected and removed from the Nursery.
Experience, however has proved that it would be beneficial for nursery staff to be able to administer one dose of temperature controlling medication.
A new policy has therefore been created and is attached. With regards to this policy we ask for your permission to administer this medication.
As a Centre we are happy offer this service, on the understanding that you as parents/guardians are abiding by the policy.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to approach a member of the Pastures team.
Many thanks

Temperature Control Medication
- It is essential that staff are aware of any medication that children have had at home, this includes pain/temperature control medication.
- Staff will administer 1 dose of medication when the child has a high temperature.
- Before medication is given, staff will attempt to contact parent/guardian for permission. However, if this is unsuccessful and written permission is held at the nursery, the medication will be administered.
- A written record of all medication administered is kept and parents are asked to sign this on collection.
- If the temperature does not reduce within 30 minutes of medication being administered or the high temperature reappears, staff will request that you collect your child.
- Staff will request that you collect your child if he/she appears to be unwell or is not coping with the nursery day.
- Staff will administer the temperature control medication, only if the child has had no more than one dose at home.
- If this means that the child has had more than one dose in the last 12 hours, we consider the child to be supported by the medication and would request your to collect your child from nursery
