How can I help prepare my child for the Centre? Your child will benefit if you spend time talking, reading and singing together. Encourage your child to do simple tasks independently, e.g. buttoning clothes. Encourage them to make choices about some of the things they would like to do.
Can my child borrow books from the Centre? Yes, there is a lending library in the main corridor. Please use it with your child as often as you can and enjoy your reading together. Instructions on how to use it are on the wall above the bookcases.
Library Bags
Children like to have their own book bag and they do help to protect the books. These cost 3.00 and can be purchased at reception.
Story Sacks
These offer new dimensions and excitement to reading. Please consider signing up to use them. For more information see the Story Sacks section.
RECORDS
What records are kept of my child's learning?
Please see separate booklet.
Do I have to make any financial contribution? Your child's sessions are government-funded. Payment is only needed for any additional sessions that your child may attend. You may be asked for a contribution for a specific event, e.g. a visiting theatre show. Children will not be excluded if parents cannot contribute. However, if a number of parents cannot contribute, the event may be cancelled. Please talk to the Head of Centre if making a contribution is difficult for you.
How am I kept informed about events and changes at the Centre? You will receive regular newsletters throughout the Centre year. You will also find notices up in the corridors and on the outside notice board. There is a message board by the entrance to the nursery rooms, please spend a few minutes each day to check them. Meetings are held for parents.
Can my child stay for additional sessions? Yes, we have provision for parents to purchase sessions in addition to the free allocated sessions.
Please see Terms & Conditions for use of this service.

How successful is the Centre? Centre staff are continuously updating their practice, having access to local and national research, training and support.
The nursery school was inspected by OfSTED in July 07 and this inspection rated all aspects of the provision as outstanding. The full inspection report is available for parents to read in reception, together with all policies and curriculum details. The inspection report can also be downloaded from the OfSTED website.
Parents wishing to discuss any aspects of the Centre's practice are very welcome to speak to Gill Allen, the Head of Centre, Patricia Knott or Lynne Webb who will be happy to answer any questions.
